I have been doing some research over at Ancestry.com for our family tree and found this US Civil War Soldier Records and Profiles that shows NW Okie's 2nd-Great Grandfather, Samuel Gwin, born about 1821, at age 42, enlisted 15 September 1863 as a private in Bath County, Virginia, in Company E, Virginia 26th Cavalry Regiment. The record also shows that Samuel Gwin (at my Ancestry.com Family Tree file) was 6 foot, 10-inches tall, with light complexion, blue eyes and light hair. Samuel Gwin mustered out of the 26th Calvalry Regiment on 29 May 1865 at Staunton, Virginia. As to an inquiry that we ran in Vol. 7, Iss. 30, concerning Clara Gorsching, 1926-1929, by Sandie Olson, which read, "I am looking for information about Clara Gorsching, 1926-1929. Her metal grave-marker is from Kern-Schneider. I did an online search for Kern-Schneider, and a lot of German language sites came up. I think I've heard of it, though, as an area funeral home. there is a Kern-Schneider-Kiesau funeral home in Clinton OK."
