NW Okie's Journey
Monday evening, November 3, 2014, we headed back through Oklahoma from our Texas visit to Houston and Tyler. We caught this shot of the sunsetting along I35, near Purcell, Oklahoma, or a small town south of there. Walking With Sadie
Just heard from NW Okie awhile ago, and she said, via telepathy, that she will be heading home to Colorado Wednesday, or so. I need to checkout the mountain passes around Wolf Creek to see what the weather will be like on that day. 100 Years Ago, 4 November 1914, Wednesday
One hundred years ago today, 4 November, in 1914, you might have read the following headlines in The Breckenridge News, located in Cloverport, Kentucky: "Democracy And Wilson Win," "Large Order Placed For Ties In Breckenridge By Ohio Valley Tie Co.," "Barbed Wire Factories Running To Capacity To Supply War Demand," and "Our Next U.S. Senator, J. S. W. Beckham." McGill Family History
This interesting find for part of the McGill clan American history was sent to me by Bob McGill concerning a William Lusk McGill. Bob McGill says, "My grandfather Charles Frank McGill was born in Orange County, New York. His folks moved to Edwards County, Kansas to homestead. I think they were one of the few of my clan to leave the Cromwell by the Hudson, New York area." Development of the Celt
The Celt came about the time of the close of the glacial period appeared in Europe. The Celt was a tall, hardy man, brave and enterprising, and not a specially warlike savage. The Ulsterman
The Ulsterman's rise, development and transformation from trustful swain to warrior grim. There was a Capt. Hugh MacGill who was prominent in the city counsels and military defense of Londonderry, and no doubt there were others, perhaps many, but we have noticed that there were Protestant McGills who would not support the Dutchman and who were enrolled in the ranks of the Irish army. The Scot, Scot Celt, Irish Celt and Scotch Irish
The Scot was not an aborigine of Scotland. He came in with the Celtic invasion of the British Islands before history was written. It is probable that the settlement of England and Scotland were simultaneous or very nearly so. Hugh McGill, Sr. (1749-1835)
Are there any MCGILL connections out there with the following information leading to Hugh MCGILL, Sr. (b. 1749 in Ireland-d. 13 Aug. 1835 in Cornwall, Orange, NY)?
