Walking With Sadie

I am kind of glad I don't have to keep up with that NW Okie as she walks those golden autumn trials at Vallecito Campground. My favorite pastime is snuggling on her bed and keeping it warm for when she does settle down to pet on this "Lady Sadie" Pug.

1903 Oklahoma Prepares For 1904 's Fair

It was Saturday, 18 July 1903, The Guthrie Daily Leader, out of Guthrie, Oklahoma Territory, reported on page 6, "Indiana and Oklahoma will make big exhibits at the World's Fair." Old State and New Territory revealed their vast resources. In Oklahoma, cotton, corn and wheat grow equally luxuriant.

1897 - Miles of Salt In Woodward County

The Guthrie Daily Leader, dated 29 July 1897, page 4, reported "Miles of Salt." Immense Saline Reservation in Woodward county.

The immense saline reservation in the northeastern part of Woodward county was a remarkable sight in the summer.

It was 14 November 1912, Thursday, in the Farmers' Champion, out of Elgin, Oklahoma, front headlines read: "Oklahoma's Salt." The "Farmers' Champion" was the successor to "Indiahoma Champion."

1914 - Hundreds Rush To Register On Last Day

In Tacoma, Washington, 13 October 1914, The Tacoma Times reported it was the last day of Voter registration. Long lines of voters, sometimes containing 100 persons, stood at the city clerk's door all day waiting to be placed on the official registration books in order that they might vote November 3, 1914.

1921, March 30 - Bank Robbery At Salt Springs, Oklahoma

We are in the process of searching for the last bank robbery at Salt Springs, located in the northwestern part of Oklahoma. What we did find was an Appeal from District Court, Harper County, with Arthur G, Sutton, Judge, residing; and Madden v State 1924 OK CR 62, 223 P. 716, 26 Okl.Cr. 251, 03/01/1924, Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals.
