Well! We headed back to Northwest Oklahoma Wednesday morning. And would you believe, our SW Colorado monsoons must have been dragged behind us. Thursday morning, 5:30am there was thunder and a little bit of rain for a while and the temps were in the mid-90s. Suppose to continue tomorrow, Friday, too.

We look back to another time, 144 years ago, When Victoria C. Woodhull, of New York, was placed into nomination, as "the woman's, Negroes and Workingman's Ticket for President and Fredrick Douglass, of District of Columbia, for Vice President.

President Ulysses Grant Re-Elected 1872

The voice of the people in 1872's presidential election sent a "Tidal Wave" in earnest for the re-election of President Ulysses S. Grant. This is what The Highland Weekly News, Hillsborough, Ohio, reported on page 2 of the newspaper dated 7 November 1872, Thursday.

Victoria California Claflin Woodhull (1838-1927)

This is what we found while researching information concerning Victoria California Claflin Woodhull was born 7th of ten children, September 23, 1838, Homer, Licking County, Ohio - June 9, 1927, died Bradon, Worcestershire, UK). She was later known as Victoria Woodhull Martin, an American leader of the woman's suffrage movement.

National Republican Convention of 1872 Nominates Gen. Grant Unanimously

Looking back at Presidential Conventions of the 19th century, we find this mention of the National Republican Convention, on the second day, nominated Gen. Grant unanimously, with Henry Wilson for Vice President. This news item can be found on page 2, of the Harrisburg Telegraph, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, dated 6 June 1872, Thursday. This was also the year that Victoria Claflin Woodhull was the first women nominated for president on the "Equal Rights Party," with Frederick Douglas as her Vice President.
