Anyone remember their folks or grandparents speaking about the "Sad Sacks Cadet Band" that played in at the "Cadet Club," in Alva, Oklahoma, March 14, 1944? Was the "Cadet Club" downtown Alva above one of the stores?

Woof! Woof! NW Okie gave me the assignment of researching Oklahoma's Notorious Outlaws this week. I found this interesting tidbit in The Daily Ardmoreite, 18 December 1910, page 8, concerning "Oklahoma's Notorious Outlaws Still At Large, Entrenched In Hills."

One hundred years ago today we look at the Chickasha Daily Express front page to see what is happening in the world and in Oklahoma. some of the headlines read: "Trial of Taylor Is Under Way," "Propose To Aid Women On Farms," "Tuxpam Is Taken By Villistas," "Poor Farm For County Proposed," and "Ready For Meeting of Board." Let us look at the "Poor Farm For County Proposed."

June, 1915 - Trial Of Taylor Is Under Way

In the Chickasha Daily Express front page these headlines that read: "Trial of Taylor Is Under Way." It concerned a possibility of the actual trial of the Jess Taylor murder case starting late that afternoon, the entire morning having been spent int he examination of jurors for duty, with a call for a special entire of 30 issued by the court to report at 2 o'clock.

When we were doing research on the 92nd CTD, during World War II, in Alva, Oklahoma, we found this mention of Judge Richard J. Ringbolt estate requesting gift to Northwestern Foundation.

Army Air Corps of WWII

As we research the Army Air Corps (USAAC), we find it was the statutory administrative forerunner of the United States Air Force. It was renamed from the earlier United States Army Air Service on 2 July 1926, a part of the larger United States Army and the immediate predecessor of the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF), established on 20 June 1941.
