Penny Postcard - Old Virginia Shoe Shop...
While we were digging through Uncle Bob's WWII memorabilia, we found this OLD penny postcard of an "Old Virginia Shoe Shop" that we thought some of your old postcard fanatics might enjoy. It reads: "Interior view of the Old Virginia Shoe Shop. Craddock Terry's Co.'s exhibit at the Jamestown Exposition. The old colored man, Alfred Leigh, was a slave belonging to Judge Thomas Leigh, of Halifax Co., Va. His wife belonged to Dr. Charles Craddock-Terry Co., who are the largest shoe manufacturers in the South, with three large factories at Lynchburg, Va. in which they manufacture the clebrated Longwear Shoes."
