Alva - 26 Years Before 1920 (1894)...

[as printed in Renfrew's Record, January 1920, under the heading of Alva 26 Years Ago. It first appeared in The Alva Pioneer, W. F. Hatfield, Editor & Publisher.] --
Charles Painter, foreman of the Medicine Lodge Index, made us a pleasant call yesterday afternoon.
????? Louis Nilson and family moved here from Medicine Lodge this week. Mr. N. is a tailor and will follow his trade here.
????? Mr. and Mrs. James Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Haskins, Russell Herold and Mr. Rossi represented Kiowa at the Hendrickson ball last night.
????? J. B. Gano, Tom Doran, Q. L. and Herbert Day and Charles Painter of Medicine Lodge, came down yesterday to attend the ball at the Hendrickson last evening.
????? F. A. Amsden of Wellington, Kansas, bought three lots on the southwest corner of block 50 (south of Rall & Hatch's grocery store), and will immediately put in a lumber yard. (The Amsden Lumber Company is still doing a good business at this stand.)
????? A. T. Sniggs and two sons from McPherson, Kansas, arrived last week and have begun improvements on claims nine miles south of Alva.   |  View or Add Comments (0 Comments)   |   Receive updates ( subscribers)  |   Unsubscribe
