Log Cabin Progress - Waynoka, OK...
"We are making good progress on the restoration of the century-old log cabin at Waynoka (Oklahoma). You will remember that it was dismantled and moved to Waynoka Station from near the Cimarron River. The attached photo shows the work in progress.
It was through Okie Legacy that we learned who built the log cabin! Charlie Cook wrote something about Joseph Barnett, and I recognized that name from the abstract of the property where the log cabin stood. I would say that he and I were equally surprised and delighted. The family knew of the building of a log cabin, but had no hopes of ever knowing more. And we had tried in vain to learn something - anything - about the cabin. Now we have wonderful documentation and photographs. Several descendents of Joseph and Wealthy Ann Barnett have been to Waynoka to see the log cabin, dismantled and stacked. Now I hope they can come again to enjoy the restored cabin as soon as the work is finished.
Thank you for making the connection possible. It has enriched our history so very much." -- Sandie Olson
