It was said that Delegate Dennis Flynn was bending all his energies towards getting free homes for Oklahoma. In this work he would have the co-operation of all Oklahomans, and if the movement was successful it would be a feather in Flynn's cap.
According to Washington dispatches Mr. Flynn has drafted a new free home bill the text, of which is as follows: "That all settlers under the homestead laws of the United States upon the public lands acquired by treaty or agreement from the various Indian tribes in the territory of Oklahoma, who have resided or who shall hereafter reside upon the tract entered in good faith for the period required by existing law, shall be entitled to a patent for the land so entered, upon the payment to the local land officers of the usual and customary fee, and no other or further charge of any kind whatsoever shall be required from such settler to entitle him to a patent for the land covered by his entry.
"Provided, That the right to commute any such entry and pay for said lands, in the option of any such settler, and in the time and at the prices now fixed by existing laws, shall remain in full force and effect."
There would probably be no trouble in getting it through he house, and in the senate several influential members of both parties were pledged to its hearty support. IT was a matter of much moment to Oklahoma - a matter of the saving of $20,000,000.
