1893, Sept., The New Town of Perry
On Thursday day, 21 September 1893, The Chanute Daily Tribune, out of Chanute, Kansas, reported on page 1, "The New Town of Perry." The body of a woman was found and two fatal encounters - Lots sell high.

Guthrie, Ok., Sept. 21 (1893) -- The body of an unknown woman, who had been burned to death by prairie fire, was found south of Perry the day before, and two fatal encounters were reported from he pawnee reservation. There was much trouble among the settlers oaf Black Bear creek and serious results were looked for. A number of rows had occurred in Perry over lot contests and three men were hurt, and it was feared there would be trouble which would result in murder, as the participants were filling up on liquor. Many lots had sold as high as $500 or $600 and many more had a dozen claimants, and all had tents up and swear they would not give up.
