1897, Death of Judge James W. Warwick
It was in a Staunton, Virginia newspaper, Staunton Spectator and Vindicator, dated 11 February 1897, Thursday, on page 3, we found a news article concerning the "Death of Judge James Woods Warwick."

Judge James W. Warwick, who was stricken with paralysis on the 18th of July last (1896), died Monday afternoon, 1st inst., at his home, Warwickton, Bath county, at four o'clock.
Judge Warwick was the eldest son of Andrew Sitlington Warwick, and was born on the 22nd day of April 1813. He was graduate at Washington college and afterwards attended the University of Virginia during the years 1831-32, studying in the Academical department. He first married Miss Ella Hyde of Rockbridge county, Va. The children by this marriage were Jno. Andrew Warwick, and James Woods Warwick, both of whom lived in Pocahontas county, West Virginia.
His second marriage was to Miss Eliza Jane Gatgewood, daughter of Col. Warwick Gatgewood.
The children by this marriage were Mrs. A. C. L. Gatgewood, Mrs. Jas. A Frazier, Mrs. John W. Stephenson, Mrs. Jacob H. McClintic, Chas. William Warwick, who died in November, 1894, Mrs. (Constance Frazier Warwick) James Frances Reid, Miss Celestine Beale Warwick.
At the session of 1879-80 he was elected by the legislature Judge of the County Courts of Bath and Highland counties. Although not a lawyer he made a most acceptable officer and served from January, 1880 to 1886, at which time his commission expired.
He also had held other positions of trust in his county, and at the time of his death was ruling elder of the Warm Springs Presbyterian church.
His wife at the time of his death was very ill and her death was not unexpected.
