Richmond, VA., Jan. 22 (1884) -- Information had reached here that John A. Lightner, confined in the Pocahontas (W. VA) county jail for participation in the lynching of Action, in Highland county, was released by a party of men, headed by Zib Allstock, who, after having enticed the jailor outside, threatened him with a gun and made him unlock the prisoner's cell. The jailer's wife ran into the village and gave an alarm, but no assistance came. Atchison was lynched by a mob of drunken men a short time ago for stabbing a man who still lived.
