(1920) The Ku Klux Klan

It was 2 December 1920 that The Bystander news paper out of Des Moines, Iowa reported the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) had been revived and an extension organization program was under way for the "Maintenance of white supremacy." This 1920 article proves that the KKK was all about "Maintenance of white supremacy," and forming again in the 1920's.

If any colored people had been in doubt about the prosperity and general advancement of their race in the past fifty years, since the civil war, that doubtfulness should immediately leave them when envious organizations such as the Ku Klux Klan again appeared on the scene in 1920 -- the first time since the well known reconstruction days of the civil war.

The newspaper went on to report that the felling they (the KKK) had the Negroes sufficiently cowed they returned to their holes, and although not active in their organization, they thinned out in many organizations secret and otherwise, that were just as aggressive against the Negro, but who hid under the cloak of religious, political and even patriotic standards, and who watched the Negro like a hawk, seeking to keep him down.

But despite all efforts to retard his progress, the Negro advanced rapidly, large business enterprises, better and higher education, higher ambitions and handsome homes marked the new era of prosperity.

Imagine how the Ku Klux Klan when they read in their anti-Negro papers that a Negro died and left $2,000,0000 or where the Negroes subscribed $225,000,000 in Liberty bonds, etc., or, where Negro banks were opening all over the country, despite all the opposition they could offer, while in the southland (their headquarters) still remained in an undeveloped state, simply because they spend too much time looking after the Negro, who works while they sleep.

"All right, Mr. KKK, keep the good work up, but remember, for every ounce of opposition the Negro seems to receive a pound of advancement, and you should always remember you have a different Negro to deal with." As written by C. W. Harding, in December, 1920.

In The Dallas Express, dated 1 March 1919, Saturday, there was this mention of the Ku Klux Klan fever spending to Pittsburgh:

Pittsburg, Pa., Feb 27 (1919) -- Terror stricken East and Negroes were seeking except from threatened violence from a gang singing itself the "Ku Klux Klan." Representative Race People had taken the matter up with insurance companies, because property destruction had been threatened. The following sign was placed on many churches and homes:

Klu Klux Klan,
The war is over Negroes.
Stay in your place, If you don't,
We'll put you there.
(signed) Ku Klux Klan.

All the signs were printed in red and black ink, and the threats stood out in bold letters.

Just another sign of the KKK was all about "White supremacy" and keeping the blacks (Negroes) in their place.

Are we going to allow the KKK and their take over of the Confederate Battle flag to again re-establish itself in the 21st century?
