Judge Richard J. Rinebolt
When we were doing research on the 92nd CTD, during World War II, in Alva, Oklahoma, we found this mention of Judge Richard J. Ringbolt estate requesting gift to Northwestern Foundation.
It seems the late Judge J. Ringbolt of Findlay, Ohio, had bequeathed $2,500 to the Northwestern Foundation & Alumni Association to create an endowment to benefit the institute for citizenship studies.
Rinebolt, though originally form Ohio, found himself in Alva after enlisting in the army air corps during World War II. At that time, Northwestern was the site of the 92nd CTD, college training detachment, where Ringbolt learned to fly the P-51 Mustang fighter plane that would take him on 30 missions over France and Germany.
The endowment from Rinebolt helped defray costs associated with guest speakers on campus, as well as financially assisting various student organizations such as Pi Sigma Alpha, Phi Alpha Theta and the Leviathan Society.
