NW Okie's Journey
Hope you all had a Happy Easter this last weekend. This week we bring you research concerning "Typhoid Mary" and other happenings of one hundred years ago in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Has it ever crossed your mind why Mary Mallon was infamously remembered as "Typhoid Mary?" Why was she the only healthy carrier isolated for life?
Some believe that there was prejudice against Mary Mallon not only for being Irish and a woman, but for being a domestic servant, not having a family, not being considered a bread earner, having a temper, and not believing in her carrier status. During Mary's lifetime, Mary Mallon experienced extreme punishment for something in which she had no control and had gone down in history as the evasive and malicious "Typhoid Mary." What do you think?
Good Night! Good Luck!
