Austin, TX, Feb. 23 (1915) -- confident of victory prominent suffragists filled the house lobbies that afternoon for the vote on engrossment of the Burmeister woman suffrage resolution. The opponents said that the real fight would not be made until the final passage.
Governor Ferguson signed the anti-election betting bill, also a bill forbidding railroads from moving offices, shops, and roundhouses without the consent of the railroad commission.
Representative Biggers of Lubbock offered his resignation because his committee, he claimed, had reported a bill without giving him a chance to be heard. Later he said financial reasons caused his resignation.
The house killed the resolution for reducing the membership of the legislature, postponing it indefinitely.
