Dec., 1914 - Women Demand Participation In Hague Conference
It was 1 December 1914, Tuesday, that we found this front page headlines in The Daily Ardmoreite concerning "Urging Rights of Woman." Women were demanding participation in The Hauge Peace Conferences.
Chicago, ll., Dec. 1 (1914) -- Declaring that the whole force of women's influence would be against war, and that women be allowed to reinforce the peace movement, Mrs. Pethick-Lawrence of England told the Chicago Equal Suffrage Association that the present war had exploded the theory that women were protected in war.
She urged that the nation's treaties be ratified by the whole people affected, and that women be allowed to participate in the Hague conference.
