Tuckerville Cave Basin Mining District of Colorado
In the Durango Evening Herald, dated 10 February 1928, there was an Advertisement mention of the Tuckerville, Cave Basin Mining District. This advertisement was placed by the Mount Runlett Metals Company of Cortez, Colorado to promote the new mining camp of Tuckerville.
Tuckerville was established as the hub of the Cave Basin mining boom. It never amounted to more than several log cabins and a dining hall. By 1929 the few mines in the area and closed and the community of Tuckerville was abandoned.
In 1928, Tuckerville had the makings of a thriving community. But, today, little remains of the mining camp of Tuckerville and the dreams of a bygone era in the San Juan Mountains.
