NW Okie's Journey
Besides walking the trails up at the Vallecito Campground, at the north end of Vallecito Reservoir, I have decided to catch some sky, clouds, trees, creeks and rock images for future watercolor projects so I can study them and see exactly how I want to proceed further.
The image on the right is one of many sky studies I am pondering. I am waiting on some masking liquid that I ordered to block out the white I do not want to paint. I know with watercolors you work from light washes to dark and leave the pure white watercolor paper for the whites in the painting. It has been awhile since I did any watercolor, so I am taking this step-by-step for now. We shall see how it turns out over the next few months, huh!?
The weather has been great up here in the southwest majestic mountains of Colorado. Love the pine trees in the forest mixed with the aspen and scrub oak bushes for that texture and color they all bring to the scenery around here. The scrub oak (or whatever its called) is slowly changing to a red hue right now. They say by the last week of September we should see fluttering, golden aspen leaves throughout the mountainside. That would make a great Durango & Silverton Narrow-gauge Railway ride through these beautiful Rocky Mountains.
Good Night, Good Luck searching for your roots!
