12 August 1910, Big Fire At Hot Springs VA
In the Summer of 1910, August 5, in the Highland Recorder, in Hot Springs, Virginia, you might have read about the Hotel Alphin being destroyed by fire.
The hotel was crowded, and the guests worked vainly with the fire department in an effort to save the building while the guests of a nearby hotel assisted in saving personal property. No one was reported injured, though. The property loss would reach $100,000.
