NW Okie's Journey
I have been spending my early morning hours walking two an a quarter mile up here in the southwest corner of the Colorado Rockies, in the mountains where you find Vallecito Camp ground. Trying to get in my exercise for these old bones and joints. The image on the left is a digital picture of a view of the Vallecito River that runs along side of the camp ground.
As we continue our research of World War I, we know Great Uncle Robert Lee Warwick was with the C.A.C. (Coast Artillery Corps) in 1914 before he joined the Canadian Expeditionary Forces. Robert enlisted at Fort McDowell, California, January 19th, 1914 and furloughed to the western department in Class A reserve, 18 January 1917, Fort Terry, New York. About four months later he enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force under the name of "R. Lee Warwick." Robert served through World War I and received his discharge papers 29 June 1919, and came home broken in health and after a few years entered the hospital at Fort Supply.
In an old family bible we found a rather delicate, worn and taped WWI Reservists Descriptive Card (see image above); a letter from Buckingham Palace; and a Canadian Expeditionary Force Discharge certificate for R. Lee Warwick dated June 29, 1919.
If you tired of the dysfunctional U. S. Congress, then help get out the Vote, November, 2014!
Good Night & Good Luck!
