100 Years Ago - 19 March 1914
One hundred years ago today, 19 March 1914, thursday, in the "Oldest Oklahoma Newspaper," The Beaver Herald, they were reporting "A Blast From the North."
As the wind shifted around to the north Wednesday afternoon and came down upon Oklahoma in a perfect gale, carrying sand and dirt with it until the atmosphere was filled and became so dense that one could scarcely see any distance at all and to face it was almost out of the question.
The high wind prevailed for several hours and was accompanied by a decided change to cooler temperature. Mercury went down several notches during the night. The next day it was considerable colder. But just like then and nowadays, the weather bids fair to moderate quickly and in a few days it would probably be balmy and spring-like again.
