1913 - Barbers Raise Prices
It was one hundred years ago today, The Daily Ardmoreite, in Ardmore, Southern Oklahoma, barbers were to raise prices of hair cuts to 35 cents after March 1st.
The annual meeting of the barbers union was held the last night of 1912 and officers elected for the ensuing year (1913).
Dee Elliott was elected President, H. R. Cheek, Vice-president, Joe Huckaby Secretary, J. H. Smith Treasurer. The above named officers would also act as the executive committee. J. H. Smith, H. R. Cheek, and E. E. Cobb were elected as delegates to the trades council.
There were no changes made in the hours and no changes in the scale of prices for the present, but it was decided that after the first of March, 1913, the price for a hair cut would be raised to 35 cents.
