Walking With Sadie
Since our CEO (Duchess, editor-in-chief) is no longer with us, we have given our Sadie Pug that position of "Editor-in-chief." Go get 'em, Sadie Sadie! It's your turn to shine and walk with us to discover the history of our pasts as we journey into the present and future. Sadie says, "Woof Woof! I've got some big shoes to fill with the passing of my buddy Duchess. She was the best! I won't try to fill her shoes completely, but will try to add to what Duchess started."
Sadie Reports:
As reported in The Daily Ardmoreite, in Ardmore, Southern Oklahoma, headlines: "Fare Five Dollars," passengers were limited to two hundred in weight in flying on the Tampa, Florida airplane. Those weighting more than two hundred pounds would have to pay express fares.
A daily airplane passenger and express service was inaugurated January 1, 1913, between Tampa, Florida and St. Petersburg, eighteen lies across the bay. The flight was made in twenty-three minutes. The fare was five dollars each way. If the passenger weighted over two hundred pounds, he must pay five cents excess for each pound over two hundred.
Did you also know that one hundred years ago that the Pan American States Association had a plan to erect a fifty-one story building, the world's tallest building, in New York, January 1, 1913?
The Pan-American States association filed plans December 31, 1912, for the tallest building in the world. It would be fifty-one stories or 894.6 feet, and would be erected on Broadway and Fifty-eighth street.
Goodnight, Good Luck and Happy New Year 2014 from SW Colorado Rocky mountains.
