1906 August 8 - Texas League Sued

It is in The Jimplecute (out of Jefferson, Texas), dated 11 August 1906, page 4, that we find this small article about the "texas League Sued." Temple baseball association instituted the action at Waco.

Temple, TX, August 8 (1906) -- The Temple baseball association, through its attorneys, Banks, Cox & Nair, at Temple, instituted legal proceeding in the district court of McLennan county directed at J. D. Roberts of Cleburne, J. W. Gardner of Dallas, W. H. Ward of Fort Worth, W. R. Davidson and T. W. Simpson of Waco, H. Mock of Greenville and J. E. Edens of Corsicana.

The petition asked that a receiver for the texas Baseball League be appointed and an accounting made of its affairs to plaintiffs. It also asked an injection against the owner of the Cleburne, Dallas, Fort Worth and Waco baseball teams of the texas league, restraining them for disposing of any franchises, property or players until the case was finally determined. Litigation was result of dropping Temple club from league.   |  View or Add Comments (0 Comments)   |   Receive updates ( subscribers)  |   Unsubscribe
