1906 - June 30th, Pioneer Judge Dies
It was in The Jimplecute newspaper out of Jeffereson, Texas, and dated Saturday, 30 June 1906, page eight, that we learn of a "Prominent Citizen of Oklahoma has departed this life." This citizen was a pioneer judge of Beaver county, Oklahoma.
Taloga, OK, June 27 (1906) - The death had occurred of Judge Orville C. McClung, the first probate judge of Dewey county, and one of the earliest of Oklahoma pioneers. In fact, he was a resident of Cimarron Territory, which was Beaver county, when that district was known as "No Man's Land," a number of years before "Old" Oklahoma was opened to settlement in 1889.
