There was some excitement as we woke up the morning of 24th May 2013, after a big bear visited our "Bird Diner" at the north end of Vallecito Reservoir, North of Bayfield, Colorado. We do remind everyone to take in their bird feeders at night, and "Do NOT Feed the Bears!" We are reminded, "Feed bears are dead bears."
The date was 24 May 2013, at approximately 12:21am, MDT, when a "coon" came from the south to check things at the "bird Diner." The coon did not stay long, though, as he was startled from the intruder coming from the North. The coon hightailed it out of there in a speedy retreat, as if being shot at with a paintball gun.
If you are traveling, vacationing in the Rocky mountains, remember that only you can spare a bear from having "three-strikes" against him by taking in your feeders and trash at night. Three strikes and the bear gets put down (death). Please do not feed the bears! Thanks!
