The last that we spotted those rascally, swinging gangster raccoons was around 21st March, between the hours of 3:33am and 5:48am MDT, and 22nd March, between the hours of 2:19am thru 3:33am MDT, at the north end of Vallecito Reservoir, Bayfield, Colorado.
Besides swinging on the hanging bird feeder, those rascal raccoons were seen leaving the scene by climbing the tall pine tree nearby. This was before the weekend cold front came through, also.
Did you know that while raccoons do not hibernate, those that live in cold climates sleep for long periods of time during winter. They may stay in their dens for several weeks at a time. But on mild days, these raccoons often wake up. They go out in search of food. Once the weather gets cold again, they return to their dens and go back to sleep.
While some were getting snow all around us, we felt only the chilly winds with sunshine. When is that Groundhog's trickle-down Spring going to show? We hear Oklahoma got some moisture via snow this weekend.
