1912 - Not Her Farewell Tour

In The Times Dispatch, dated Monday, December 2, 1912, out of Richmond Virginia, we find this little tidbit of information concerning Sarah Bernhardt's tour of "The Beautiful America."

New York, December 1 (1912) -- "This is not my farewell tour of the beautiful America," declared Sarah Bernhardt, as she stepped off the La Savole form Europe with her company for a vaudeville tour of the United States. The French tragedienne carried her usual large personal equipment, which included two Pomeranian pups, tucked snugly under her arms, as she crossed the gangplank, cheered by the liner's crew. Mme.
