Chesterfield Cylinder Plant In Enid (OK)
I had to do a search for the Chesterfield Cylinder Plant of Enid, Oklahoma to see if it was still in business and what it produced. I found that in March, 1985 the firm temporarily discontinued production of the cylinders used by natural gas producers. It was also around that time period that the company's work force was reduced from 100 to 25 by the Fall of 1985.
It sounds as though the Nicholas Investment Company took over the business at the 54th Street site, in Enid, which was the former Chesterfield Forge and Cylinder Press manufacturing site. If I am reading this correctly the Chesterfield Forge was constructed in the early 1980's as a 54,000 square foot facility that was served by a rail spur and over-head crane lift.
Does anyone else know any more about this Nicholas Investment Company that took over the Chesterfield company?
