We have an inquiry for a book about Woods County Oklahoma, entitled Woods County Oklahoma Rural Cemeteries that may have been printed in the seventies. Does anyone out there no where Vicki could get or buy a copy of the book?
Vicki (Email: austincarberry@windstream.net) says, "I Don't have a lot of information about it (the book). I saw it at the library in Alva last week when I was looking for cemeteries that had Carberry, Mitchell, Rounds, Walker, Rauch, Fritsch and Landreth graves in Woods county. The librarian told me there were limited numbers printed and I thought she said it sold for about $50. Thanks so much, again!"
As to Tuck's Wonder in Ingersoll, Oklahoma, Mary Wessels Erskine shared these memories of Tuck's Wonder Store, "Linda, from and old gal from Ingersoll, Tuck claimed to have everything you needed the problem was if you could find it. Tucker was open 24-7 and 1 to 31 to 12 months. My Post Office was Cherokee but we went to church in Ingersoll and grandmother lived there, right on 64."
We heard from a possible GWIN/GUINN family connection who had run across the history of the Gwinn family of Calf Pasture, Virginia [Origins of the GWINN Family]. Lillian (Email: lillian.densley@gmail.com) said, "I was delighted to find your web site about the Gwinn family of Calf Pasture, VA. I am searching for information about James Gwinn who settled in the Greenbrier area of Summers, Monroe Co, WV. My ancestor is Jenny/Jean/Jane Gwyn/Gwinn who married Joseph Alford and named her first son, James Alford. After studying information about the Gwinn family, I believe my ancestor Jean/Jane is the daughter of James Gwinn, who with his brother Samuel, being sons of Robert of Calf Pasture, VA, came to Greenbrier River and settled in the area of Monroe/Summers County. Jenny/Jean/Jane Gwinn married Joseph Alford in 1792 in Greenbrier Co, VA and named her oldest son James, who married Margaret Carlisle. Thank you for posting your family research. Any new information you may have about James Gwinn, son of Robert, that you can share would appreciated. Thank you!"
Good Night & Good Luck searching your ancestry!
