Lt. Bob McGill & Col. James Leach - WWII Hawaii
Matt Hermes, Ph. D. says, "Dear Linda, In continuing my work on the bio of Col Jimmie Leach I have come across the attached photo apparently taken in Hawaii in 1942. Is that Bob McGill? Pretty fine photo. That is Jimmie Leach second from right. Best regards."
WWII 1942 Hawaii, Uncle Bob McGill & Col. James Leach photo shows up on Dr. Hermes website for a memorial to Col. James Leach and his army life that dates back to WWII. Here is another link that shows the 1942 photo in Hawaii above with Kelley, McGill, Carson & Jimmie Leach (second from right), with the following quote made by Col. James Leach: They left Ft. Benning; the mission was to go to the Philippines. Readiness? The Battalion was far from ready. En route at Camp Polk in Louisiana they pulled into a siding and a new Lieutenant by the name of Bob McGill joined the battalion. ?I?m new to this light tank business; I don?t know anything about it. How long have you all had?em?? he asked. ?Got ?em yesterday, sir.? ?Good God.?
