Log Cabin Family Reunion In Waynoka, OK
"The three room log house at Waynoka Station hosted several family members of the original builders, Joseph and Wealthy Ann Barnett, recently. The Barnett-Foster reunion was held near Wichita, Kansas. Several traveled to Oklahoma to visit the Sod House near Aline, and the Barnett log cabin in Waynoka. Those shown are from several states: Kansas, Alabama, California, and Oregon. Museum volunteer interpreter Daryal Toellner welcomed them to the family home, and provided some interesting history.
Rick Slater and Bill Jones, kin of the Barnetts who originally built the log cabin which is on display at Waynoka Station, look at an autograph book in the cabin's kitchen. The autograph book is more than 100 years old. It was signed by friends and family of Daisy Barnett Talkington, youngest child of Joseph and Wealthy Ann "Annie" Barnett. The cabin was moved from south of the Cimarron River in Major County. However, the family had lived north of the Cimarron not far from the present-day Waynoka Airport, and the children attended school at Pleasant Hill. Daisy's lunch pail is also on display, and can be seen in the photograph." -- Sandie Olson, Waynoka Historical Society
