Here is another 1905 news article concerning "Wholesale Weddings" amongst the Comanche's in the Lawton, Oklahoma area that I thought you might enjoy.
Wholesale Wedding... "Ten Comanche Couples Celebrated Payment By Marriage - Lawton, Okla., Aug. 31, 1905 -- "The greatest feast the Comanche Indians have enjoyed for years filled almost the entire day yesterday. The occasion was the celebration of the marriage of twenty members of the tribe, ten young gallants and ten blushing maidens.
A similar event was never known to happen before in all the history of Indian tribes. The Comanches have learned the conventional manner of wedding and in order that it might be carried out with some manner of ostentation they waited until the gallants received their money from the government.
"Shortly after this was received yesterday they appeared at the office of the probate clerk and applied for licenses. The clerk labored for nearly an hour taking down the unspoilable names of the contracting parties, and then they walked out one by one and went their ways. It is said the newly weds will visit the mansion of Chief Quanah Parker next Sunday to receive his blessing."
