Alva Council Cracks Up!
Well We are back in Oklahoma for a few weeks! This time I think we brought some clouds, moisture and a bit of coolness with us from the West Rockies.
AND... That's not all we brought to northwest Oklahoma!
According to the local newspaper, there was a city council meeting in NW Okie's hometown of Alva, Oklahoma, where the Mayor, City Inspector, Business Manager and unknown numerous others in attendance had a grand ole time with chuckles, laughter and jokes, Tuesday evening, September 4, 2007, in the council chamber.
The Other Side of the Story
This is where we get into OUR side of the story (OR... The Rest of the Story as some might say). Most northwest Woods countians and Oklahomans have probably read their local newspaper stories of last Sunday ... unlike this NW Okie who read about it after the fact, on Wednesday evening, September 5th.
We began our trip Tuesday morning from SW Colorado to head back Home to Alva, Oklahoma for a "scheduled" hearing with the Alva council that we truly believed was set for September 6, 2007, Thursday evening, concerning a couple of old, boarded up houses NW Okie has an interest in on 12th Street.
That is one of the reasons we left Tuesday morning... so we could make it in time for the scheduled hearing set for Thursday evening, 6th of September 2007.
When we reached Alva, Oklahoma, on Wednesday afternoon, September 5, 2007, we realized that the hearing had taken place on that Tuesday evening.
Some might wonder why we didn't clean up the houses earlier and waited until now to do it. That is a long story that I won't go into here.
Since we were on the road for the last few years and could not be in two places at once, we waited until the cool, temperatures came to begin work on the demolishing of the 12th street houses.
I would think that the City Council would not want us to die of heat stroke during the demolish, now would they?
some people might think we have been libelous. I do not see how that could be when everything we have told you here is the TRUTH!
Again... I think the city council for having the patience, understanding and letting us wait for cooler temperatures to do the demolishing of the houses. It is a lot better healthwise! Thank YOU!
