Oklahoma Weather
This was sent to us via readers whose friends/ relatives gave updates on last week's Oklahoma bad weather. Thanks to Les & Steve for submitting.
From Alva: "The storm did not come this far north. Kingfisher, Carnegie, Geary, Watonga and El Reno were all flooded. You know it had to be pretty bad if they would close down parts of I-40 between Yukon and El Reno. My sister lives in El Reno but did not get any flooding. We are all high and dry and hot. Thanks for your concern." -- Karen
From Yukon: "We are high here but we received 6-inches of rain in a little over 4-hrs. At I-35 and I-240 they received 7-inches. Out west, Cordell got 9-in., Watonga. 8-in., and a Catagory 1, tropical storm. When the low got across the Red River and all the moisture was in place, it started building and for about 4- 5 hr. it unloaded. I-40 was closed just East of El Reno for 6-hrs, high water. Water set a new record in Kingfisher. It got all the way up to the Pioneer Telephone building and the water mark was up about 3-ft on the building. That building is on US-81 at the corner where the North stop light is. There have been several lives lost. This tropical thing was a first for OK." -- Loris
