The Hollywood Trail
How many people make the trek up Hollywood Trail to glimps the famous "Hollywood" sign when they travel through southern California?
Well! At least this NW Okie did just that after driving down Sunset Blvd. to Hollywood Blvd on this Sunday morning.
We have been staying in the Long Beach area and even made the beach scene at New Port Beach earlier this week.
That reminds me... When you are on the beach sticking your feet in the Pacific ocean and the strong tide waters are going in and out, DO NOT stick your pocket camera in your hip pocket or take it anywhere near the salt water. The strong tide can pull you down to your knees and eventually cause you to seat yourself (Butt first) in the water. Anyway... that's what happened to this NW Okie. After a few days of drying out, though, my pocket camera finally started working again. I was lucky on that note.
This Sunday morning we took a drive down Sunset Blvd, through Beverly Hills to Hollywood and Vine. They had a part of Hollywood Blvd blocked off to traffic in front of the theatre for a Harry Potter premire. BUT... That was not on our agenda. We took the "Hollywood Trail" up to the hills of the infamous HOLLYWOOD sign.
You can drive, follow "Hollywood Trail" street a ways and park your car and walk the rest of the way up a dirt path to glance the HOLLYWOOD sign from across another hill. Thank goodness for the zoom lens on my camera that pulled the sign even closer.
I wasn't that impressed with with Hollywood Blvd, though. It isn't what it use to be. If you know what I mean.
Anyway, in a couple of days we will be heading out of Southern California, up the coastline towards, Monterey, Carmel, San Francisco and Napa to catch photo opportunities along the way. I have had orders from my oldest son to check out the winerys in the Napa Valley area for a fine, smooth Cabernet.
I thank you all for your understanding and apologize for this short newsletter this week as we are on the road in California.
