Waynoka - A Gift That Keeps Giving
"Hello all, A few days ago, I found what looked like a bumble bee hobbling across the floor of our family room. It looked and acted very sad and sickly. I thought it unusual that he was out and about in January, and gotten into the house. I scooped him up and threw him in a bush, outside the door. Yesterday, I noticed some black objects on the floor next to the hearth of the fireplace. Upon examination, I was surprised to find three more of the big black bees. Only one was still alive. They could have only come out of the piece of hand hewn log presented to me at the opening of the restored century old Joseph Barnett log cabin in Waynoka Last July. I am a great-great grandson of Joseph, and Wealthy Ann Brown Barnett. I have it sitting on the hearth. It had a number of perfectly round holes in it. I recall someone saying that they were made by something called cedar bees. Last week our pest control company rep inspected and sprayed, in and out doors. Could this be a result of that, or just spring come early in the Deep South? Anyway, the log was awarded six months ago?and it still bee?s giving." -- Charles M. Cook in Louisiana Bayou Country
