Duchess Corner
Well! That dang "Oakie" ran off on family business this whole week to NW Oklahoma. Leaving this mountain dog with friends of ours to hold down the fort. I do not really mind, though, 'cause I got to stay and enjoy the fresh new snowfall.
The picture to the left shows how understanding I can be when my friend finally let me have a tiny share of my own pillow on the seventh day of my stay. Here's another shot of my friend on my pillow - Sharing Duchess' Pillow
I understand that I have been cracking my friends up lately. You see... I'm an early riser! I've been waking up -- go to the end of the bed -- peek under this blanket at my dog friend to see if I can get anyone aroused, awake to play. I proceed to take my playful stance position. Nothing! Absolutely nothing of any kind of reaction comes from my friend, EXCEPT... She does give me this strange little stare that sends me to the other end of the bed.
While I saunter to the head of the bed the human friend I think is watching the whole thing just tells me, "Lay back down, Duchess! It's too early!" So... to please her and get some satisfaction of my own I just plop my 20-something pounds down right up next to her like a hundred pounds of weight -- rest my head and chin near her head -- so if she looks in my direction she can't resist these pathetic pug brown eyes. It usually works with Oakie, but this human friend is a bit trickier and different.
