We hear that Kansas and Oklahoma have been getting some of that much needed moisture. Particularly, Anthony & Harper, Kansas. Hennessey, Cherokee and other parts of northwest Oklahoma have been getting some of that late, but much needed moisture, also.
It might be a bit late for wheat farmers whose wheat has started to dry up and many farmers are swathing and grazing what wheat fields they have. Here in SW Colorado in the valley south of Bayfield and southeast of Durango we experienced some much needed rain most of the day Friday, April 28, 2006.
NW Okie set out our hummingbird feeders earlier this week and Sadie went on Hummingbird alert Thursday afternoon. We finally saw one lone hummingbird scouting food to let his pack (if humminbirds run in packs, that is) know where to congregate for their sweet nectar of energy. NW Okie was suppose to put out the feeders the first of April, but got busy and ... "Just forgot!" Yep! Just forgot until someone finally reminded her last weekend!
The irrigation ditches are flowing with water once again down in the valley south of the Vallecito Reservoir in southwest Colorado. With that and the birds are singing, these Pugs are on hummingbird, deer, squirrel and bird alert. We are seeing all sort of spring births in the pastures of southwest Colorado. AND... SW Colorado gas prices continue to range from $2.939 to $3.029 in Southwest Colorado.
Depot Towns In Oklahoma... Did anyone happen to catch "Discover Oklahoma" featuring depots of Oklahoma? We understand it aired on April 22, 2006, at 6:30 p.m., KWTV, channel 9, last Saturday. The Waynoka (Oklahoma) Station and Old Harvey House was one of those featured, Saturday, April 22, 2006, titled "Depot Towns in Oklahoma?" We don't get KWTV out here in SW Colorado. Maybe KWTV has a clip of it on their website.
Dacoma High School 8th Graders... Check out the 1933 eighth grade class photograph of Dacoma High School (DHS), in Dacoma, Oklahoma listed in the "Mailbag" section below. Help us identify the rest of these DHS eighth graders. In 1933, were there any PARIS families with eighth graders living in Dacoma, Oklahoma?
Happy Birthday to Ann in Southwest Colorado on Monday, May Day!
