Weather Dog Report...
We know that "Ground Hog Day" is just around the corner and January is coming to an end. BUT...
These "Weather Dogs" are here to report of a siting of Winter showing itself mid-week (Wednesday, January 25, 2006) this week. Here in the San Juan Valley of SW Colorado we received anywhere from 3 to 4 inches of that wet, fluffy, white snow. While the higher elevations received close to 7 inches of snow... FINALLY!
The picture on the left was taken Wednesday afternoon, January 25, 2006. The picture on the right was taken 27 January 2006, Friday, looking towards the Southwest from our driveway.
We did take a trip up to Vallecito area to see what snow they had accumulated this week. Comparing it to past snows, it was like the November snowfalls they experience during Thanksgiving. That's how far behind we are for the norm around here.
We hear the farmers and ranchers in NW Oklahoma are needing some much needed moisture and rain for their wheat crops and ponds. It is extremely dry there ... AND ... across all of Oklahoma. Maybe this weekend will give them a chance for some of that rain... or snow!
AND... listening to the weather channel, it looks like Sunday, Monday may bring another chance for some rain, snow in the NW parts of USA.
