This bit of information was taken from the history book of Woods County, Oklahoma (Pioneer Footprints Across Woods County, pg. 193).
Rudy Eden Family -- Rudy was born in Humbolt, Nebraska, June 7, 1889; died December 15, 1961. Rudy's parents were emmigrants, George and Ana Eden. The Eden family moved to Woods County, Oklahoma in 1900 and lived on their homestead near Fairvalley.
Rudy served with the American Expeditionary Forces, in France during WWI. He returned home to farm/ranch labor. Rudy acquired land by small purchases. His first possession was on Red Horse Creek and he lived in a small 1-room building.
Rudy Eden married Alice Kendrick, March 14, 1921, in Enid, Oklahoma. They built a home in 1928 in the Fairvalley community.
Rudy promoted the Junior Freedom Rodeo and was a member of the Cimarron Cowboy Association. He helped establish the monument located in the town park of Freedom, Oklahoma. The monument was a tribute to the cattlemen and ranchers in this northwestern area of Oklahoma Territory. In 1961 Rudy Eden was the Old Cowhand during Freedom's Rodeo that year. Rudy was also, Woods Commissioner.
