Oklahoma Weather This Week...
"We frequently get an early (pre-season) snowfall here in October, but not this year. The snow we got here in Perry (Oklahoma) on Wednesday of this week, was not more than 3 inches and was powder dry! There are only traces of it left and the warmth today should make the rest of it disappear.
The farmers were hoping for 2 or 3 feet of it because everything is way too dry. There have been many grass fires and some major house fires. One newly married (local) young couple lost everything but the clothes they were wearing and had no insurance on the house they'd just purchased and moved into. A local bank is taking contributions now to help them.
In case you wanted to ski in Oklahoma, there is (I think) a resort in Weatherford, Oklahoma that is creating an 'artificial' snow from some sort of plastic. I'm not sure how that works but was informed that Colorado has a resort or two that does the same thing for year 'round skiing."
