Balmer Fund, Inc. Looking for Dedicated Board Member...
"Linda, Here is something you can go ahead and request for us if you wish. We are waiting on a local businessman who is rather new to our town (bought two vehicle dealerships in the past three years) who truly understands what we are doing and what we are up against, and has had long talks with me. He will help but not sure if he wants to serve on the board, so we will go
ahead for now and solicit resumes. Thank you for your consideration. As follows:
The Balmer Fund, Inc... Dedicated to preserving the history, art and culture of the prairies for future generations since 1994, is soliciting resumes from anyone who would like to be considered for our seven member board. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
What we are looking for is dedication in preserving our prairie heritage, experience in business ownership, and an understanding of the historic preservation of architecture. (We must own the buildings we restore -- at the present time
there are six in Harper County, but we can go anywhere, including Oklahoma.)
Knowledge of grant writing would be a plus. We have four meetings a year and several interesting fundraising activities which board members are asked to assist with when possible.
There are updates sent via email in order to keep travel to meetings at a minimum. We seek an educated person, someone with sophisticated insights as to the nature of humanity, and the ability to take a stand in the face of adversity. We also ask that board members show their sincerity for historic restoration and the preservation of our culture and art by making a contribution to the organization, according to their ability to pay.
(For example, our organization pays $100 a year to the Kansas Historic Theatres Association.)
If you are an active person who enjoys meeting new people, and new adventures that will benefit your heirs, please submit your resume. A paragraph about why you are interested would be a plus. Send to The Balmer Fund, Inc., 121 West Main, Harper, KS 67058 -- or -- Email it to - wepreserve@balmerfund.org. If you have more questions, do not hesitate to contact us. You may see our static website: www.prairieconnect.com. We appreciate your interest." --
