Walking With Sadie

Woof! Woof! This last week the snow has been disappearing, melting fast up here in the Southwest corner of Colorado, at the North end of Vallecito Lake. But before that my favorite human caught this red fox stomping through our neck of the woods on top of the snow in the late night hours.

100 Years Ago, 21 March 1915

One hundred years ago, 21 March 1915, Sunday, the New York Tribune reported: "Piute Outlaws Give Up Chiefs To Gen. Scott." The band which threatened uprising and eluded posse surrenders. Peace powwow held in Mesa Bad Lands. Army officer attended only by aid, orderly, trader and friendly Navajos.

1915 - Guthrie Rest Room For Visitors Is Popular

In The Guthrie Daily Leader, dated 22 March 1915, Monday, we find a popular place inaugurated in Guthrie, Logan county, Oklahoma, at city hall by the women's auxiliary, for the comfort, convenience and help of the visitors from the farming communities and the surrounding towns. I thought on Alva, Woods county, Oklahoma in the Northwest part of the State had a "rest room" for travelers.

1909-1910 Alva Rest Room Guestbook

Northwest Oklahoma had a community resting place in Alva, Woods County, Oklahoma known as "Alva's Rest Room" where travelers, country folks and others used as a stopping off place to rest before the long journey back home.
