The person who bought the "Old Sam Lindsay" place south of Monterey, Virginia, sent me a recent photo taken this last Saturday of a view of my paternal grandmothers relatives, who showed up in a misty aura over the Gwin/Eckard cemetery. One hundred years ago, Tuesday, 4 May 1915, the Guthrie Daily Leader, out of Guthrie, Oklahoma, was reporting on their front page headlines: "French Cruiser Gambetta Sunk With 500 Loss." It was in the Palestine Daily Herald, dated 26 May 1908, that we found this mention of a headline that read: "Wyckliffes Surrender." It was concerning Oklahoma Outlaws with rewards out for them that gave up to the Sheriff at Muskogee.
