Duchess of Weaselskin

The Month of March, 2013, there has been a "Gangsters" of Raccoons making nightly visits to the North end of Vallecito Reservoir, North of Bayfield, Colorado, to finish cleaning the droppings of bird seeds left by the birds during the day. The two raccoons seen in this video were recorded March 13 thru 14, 2013, between the hours of 9:51pm thru 5:14am, the next morning.

ne hundred years ago today, Tuesday, March 18th (1913), The Daily Ardmoreite (Ardmore, OK) had the following front page headline: "Construction of Capitol Soon." Governor Favored appropriation or large bond issue. So Oklahoma's capitol building was built after this date sometime, huh?

It was around 2:22:05a.m., MDT, March 17, 2013 that we caught one of the gangster raccoon sauntering up our south driveway for an early morning snack of picked over birdseeds that had been dropped to the ground earlier in the day.

1913 - Suffrage leader Tell Of Insults During Parade

In the Washington Times, dated Saturday, March 15, 1913, one of the front page headlines read: "Suffrage Leader Tell of Insults During the Parade." Howling, Jeering mobs faced marchers. Mrs. Burleson, Grand marshal, declared she cried out to police for help. Men did not obey her. Other witnesses tell of seeing woman punched and one parader insulted.

Comet PanSTARRS

Did you get a glimpse of the "Comet PanSTARRS" this week? It is suppose to be viewable during early March, 2013. Comet PanSTARRS becomes visible to the naked eye in the night sky, Northern Hemisphere, appearing with a similar shape and brightness as a star, albeit with a trailing tail. Up in space, NASA's STEREO (Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory) has an even better view. This movie, captured by the STEREO-B spacecraft on March 9-12, shows the comet and its fluttering tail as it moves through space.

Counties of Kansas (1886)

In the Western Kansas World, dated Saturday, 23 January 1886, page 7, was this "Counties of Kansas" origin of their names and the date of their organization, by Colonel H. Inman. Beginning with Allen county and continuing to Woodson. There were unorganized counties: Sherman, Cheyenne, St. John, Greeley, Scott, Wallace, Lane, Gove, and others mentioned in this article.
