100 Years Ago Today - 26 Oct. 1915, Tuesday
One hundred years ago, Tuesday, 26 October 1915, The Daily Ardmoreite reported on their front page: "New Depot Is A Thing of Beauty." And ... "Another Big Hospital For Ardmore."
Ringing and Frisco Roads would have model place for passenger and freight traffic. Few people of the city of Ardmore were aware of the beauty and convenience of the new Ringling depot on North Washington Street, which would be used jointly by the Oklahoma, New Mexico & Pacific & Frisco railroads, because very few had visited the place, but when it was thrown open to the public the next Thursday morning they would have a chance to inspect as complete a station as the most fastidious could wish, and besides its convenient features, it was a thing of beauty as well.
The floors were of tile artistically land and the walls were of a most pleasing tint. Everything had been done for the convenience of passengers, and the office arrangements were all that the clerical force desired, for handling, the work of the two roads.
Beginning the next Thursday morning, all trains leaving the city of the Frisco and the Oklahoma, New Mexico & Pacific would leave this new station.
Another Big Hospital For Ardmore
There was a movement on foot to build a new hospital in Ardmore, and, while the promoters were not ready to make a definite announcement, it had been reported that they plan to build a hospital of at least fifty rooms and would organize a stock company for the building of same.
Several business men, it had been reported, had stated that they would take stock in such an enterprise, and when the plans had been fully developed, the public would be apprised of them.
The location of the hospital had not been decided upon, but there were several sites available.
