August, 1915 - The Passing of the Bootlegger
It was in that same The Oklahoma Times, Tuesday, 31 August 1915, we find "The Passing of the Bootlegger." It mentioned Film rights open - half pints now standard of measure instead of a gallon.
Bootlegging in Oklahoma City was a lost art. So say the enforcement officers back then, and they were the ones who knew. Not that the demon rum was no longer sold, bartered, or given away in the municipality, for it was, but pints and half pints took the place of the gallons that were the customary standard of measure a few short months before.
Police officials would estimate back then that the bootlegging business had been cut down 90 percent in the last ninety days.
