In the 5 July 1915 newspaper, "The Guthrie Daily Leader," we find this front page headline concerning Guthrie Celebrates Old Fashioned "Glorious."
County and city offices, the postoffice, federal offices, banks and practically all business houses were closed on that date back in 1915. The parks were crowded and the picture shows were doing a rushing business. The races at the fair ground that afternoon were drawing large crowds of sport overs. Many god events being carded. Basket dinner parties at Highland and Electric parks were numerous.
The real old time spirit of American Independence was more pronounced that 4th than for many years. The vendors of fireworks had done a land office business and many fireworks parties had been formed for that night.
No accidents had been reported to the police or hospitals.
